How to Put Together Parts on a Beltone Amaze Hearing Aid
Having a faulty hearing aid is highly frustrating. Not only do you have to find someone who can repair it, but you also have to worry about how much repairing it is going to cost. As if that's not bad enough, you also have to worry about how long the repair will take. Trying to repair a Beltone hearing aid on your own may lead to more frustration as it is unlikely that you will replace the needed piece. No matter your reason for needing to pull apart the parts of your Beltone hearing aid, here are some easy steps that can get you started on DIY Beltone Amaze hearing aid repair:
Beltone Hearing Aid Battery Replacement
If your Beltone hearing aid batteries suddenly drain completely, it is likely because the spring clip that holds them in place has come dislodged or broken off entirely. To replace these batteries:
- Please remove the battery door by placing your fingernail into the crevice below it and gently pulling upwards.
- Make sure you hold your hearing aid on its side with the volume switch pointing towards the ground, then pull out the old battery.
- Insert a new battery and close your battery door tightly.
Take this easy step-by-step to ensure you replace your battery correctly to prevent any damage to your hearing aid battery compartment:
- First, lift the battery door and insert two new Beltone mini batteries (AG13) into each hearing aid.
- Remove the domes from the tray by the slots.
- Place all of your domes into a dome holder and place them in your pocket.
- Use the 10mm Allen wrench and insert it into the screw hole in the bottom of your hearing aid. Twist until you can remove the rear cover.
- Lift out the electronics module and carefully unplug the white connector from the circuit board.
- Lift the electronics out of the shell.
- Insert your electronics into your new Beltone Amaze shell, making sure to line up the gold connectors on both parts.
- Replace your white connector to ensure a secure connection between your hearing aid components.
- Place the domes onto the posts, ensuring that you hear a "click" as they sit into position.
- Attach the covers by lining them up and twisting them onto your Beltone Amaze hearing aid until you hear a "click."
- Replace the battery cover and twist the screw back into place to close your housing securely.
- Applying domes
Applying a Standard Dome
To apply a Standard Dome, make sure Turn-Tab faces away from the ear. Attach one end of the dome to your hearing aid and gently pull it over the tip of your hearing aid. If needed, you can use the tape to keep the Standard Dome in place.
Applying Tulip Domes
Mounting your Beltone Amaze hearing aid is a quick and easy process that only takes a few simple steps.
Changing the wax guards
Changing your wax guards can give you a new lease on listening. Here's how to change the wax guards in your Beltone Amaze hearing aids:
- Open up the battery door on your hearing aid by pushing it open from the bottom. Carefully remove both batteries. Put them somewhere where they are not likely to roll away or put them back in their original packaging.
- With the batteries removed, you can now open up your hearing aid by pushing on the top of it with both thumbs (like opening a book) and sliding the ear mold off of its hooks. Note that this is unnecessary for all models; this step does not apply if your aids do not slide apart.
- Once you have separated the parts of your hearing aid, take the wax guard out of its slot by pushing on its legs from the bottom and pulling it up. To help reinsert a new wax guard, try rolling the wax guard as you pull it out to ensure no dirt or debris inside preventing it from coming out.
- Now replace the wax guard by inserting its legs into the same slots it came out of and pushing until you hear or feel a click (if your model does not reattach this way consider following the instructions below). If you are replacing both guards, make sure to put them back in their correct slots (some models have a permanent guard on the inside and a removable one on the outside).
- Once you have replaced all wax guards, reassemble your hearing aid by sliding the earmold back onto its hooks and closing up the battery door. Then test your hearing aids to see if any adjustments are necessary for volume or tone control.
While it is true that if you are handy with tools and have an hour on your hands, picking apart the parts of your Beltone hearing aids can be rewarding, this first attempt at DIY repairs might cause more damage to your hearing device. Not to mention, you are likely to lose a few parts. We, therefore, recommend you bring your hearing aids to any Beltone Dallas Fort Worth hearing center to get your device fixed and working again quickly.
